  • New password for Excel downloads will be necessary from 1-1-2022
  • Last Steering Group meeting of 2021 on 9th of December

October 2021

  • New working Group Exterior Hatches and panels has been started. By standardisation the influence of human errors during maintenance can be reduced. DB, SCNF, NS, EuroStar en OBB have joined this group.
  • Exchange with OEM’s and suppliers has been improved: more flexible and accessible during the entire development process of the EuroSpec.

September 2021

  • Presentation of EuroSpec Alternative Energy held at ERESS conference
  • Feedback button per EuroSpec on website installed to make exchange of opinions much easier.

June 2021:

  • Maintenance Software – New working Group started. Objective is to specify a common reference frame for the maintenance software applications of rolling stock ‘s electronic onboard control units. SNCF, NS, SBB amd RDG are joining this group.

April 2021

  • 3th updated version of Requirements Management templates have been uploaded on the website

News February-March 2021

March 2021
• Ralf Marxen (DB) has taken over the chairman ship of Bruno Langlois (SNCF).
• Over 50 participants celebrates 10th anniversary of EuroSpec via the on-line 2nd Plenary on 10th march. Valuable network and exchange of indepth knowledge are the unique corner stones of EuroSpec. Advisory Board member Thierry Fort (SNCF) and Dr. Kai Bruggemann (CEO ÖBB Technical Services) spoke some supporting words about the importance of harmonization for the railsector and the customer and the valuable products delivered by EuroSpec.
February 2021
• International standards on terms and definitions: EN 17343 and IEC 60050-811 and IEC 60050-821 to be used as a basis for all new and updates from EuroSpec.
• Fuel Cells: EuroSpec work on alternative energy will be aligned with new IEC-standards WI IEC 63341-1 and -2 about on-board fuel cells with hydrogen.
• EuroSpec specification template will be extended with the attributes System, Function and Non-functional element (according to EN 15380-4 and 5).
• Invitation for Second plenary EuroSpec on March 10th has been sent.
• Steering Group reviewed first draft EuroSpec ‘Doors’ and ‘On board data availability’
• Working Plan 2021 has been approved by Steering Group
• New Working Group ‘Circular material lifecycles for Rolling Stock’ will start its activities in March 2021.

Latest News February 2020

  • New version 3 EuroSpec toilets available. New experiences of operators and suppliers have been incorporated.
  • Ralf Marxen is the new DB representative in Steering Group. Ralf is the Head of external technical affairs & Head of Project Shift2Rail at Deutsche Bahn AG.
  • Dialogue with OEM and suppliers to next level. After having a MoU with UNIFE for several years, EuroSpec and UNIFE agreed on a more flexible and direct dialogue with the UNIFE members. This will have its positive effect the EuroSpec specifications.
  • Based on the ongoing developments and changing positions EuroSpec Steering Group is redefining the vision and mission of this initiative. Around summer 2020 this will be available.
  • New EuroSpec expected in 2020: Seat comfort, Common ID’s and Watertightness. And beside this also a document for common definitions for EuroSpec.
  • Working plan 2020 is uploaded on the website.

  • June 2019: New EuroSpec ‘Parking Noise v1.0’ available on eurospec.eu
  • June 2019: A new EuroSpec ‘Seat-comfort’ in the final validation stage. The EuroSpec will be expected before end of 2019.
  • June 2019: New Working Group ‘On-board Data Availability’ started.
  • May 2019: nine legal acts have been adopted by the European Commission on May 16th in the light of the start of the 4th Railway Package’s Technical Pillar on 16th June 2019. Publication in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) is expected end of May 2019. The legal acts are Revision Noise TSI, TSI Package + ERATV, OPE TSI, RINF, Recommendation practical arrangements on safety authorisations, TAP TSI CCM, TAF TSI CCM, Revision PRM TSI on inventory of assets and New ECM Regulation

  • March 2019: Major interest of EuroSpec members in topic ‘Rolling Stock Software handling, a technical specification to update software’.
  • April 2019: MoU with UNIFE extended in.  In order to improve our specifications the cooperation with UNIFE is very important for EuroSpec. Valuable input from manufacturers and suppliers point of view.
  • April 2019: Meeting Management EuroSpec and Round table Rail in April: good alignment of activities and planning for better trains in near future.
  • May 2019: Second version ‘Sliding Step’ available on website.
  • May 2019: New Working Group ‘Alternative traction energy supply and related infrastructure interfaces  started.
  • May 2019: XLS format of EuroSpec specifications become available.
  • 27th May 2019: The legal acts, part of the Technical pillar of the 4th Railway Package, were published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). Round Table Rail was launched in Zürich on August 28

A joint initiative between rolling stock suppliers and major train operators. Aim of simplifying rail vehicle development and procurement. Founder members of Round Table Rail (RTR) include German Rail (DB), Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), Netherlands Railways (NS), Belgian National Railways (SNCB), Alstom, Stadler Rail, Bombardier, Siemens and CAF.
