Welcome to EuroSpec – an initiative of several European train operating companies acting as partners. The partners aim at providing voluntary common technical specifications, as an explicit set of requirements, for rolling stock components such as toilets, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) and sliding steps among others to be used as support for purchasing or refurbishing railway rolling stock. These topics do not touch the competitive domain between the train operators but support them in competing with other transport modes. A consequent application of EuroSpec methods and specifications should promote standardisation, quality, vehicle platforms and decrease costs. An additional specification, on requirement management was created and is used now to monitor that EuroSpec specifications fulfill requirement management rules and to increase the quality and consistency of the documents.
Sliding steps EuroSpec reissued as version 1.1. See Download section.
EuroSpec sign MoU with UNIFE
EuroSpec is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with UNIFE that expresses a willingness of both parties to engage in mutual recognition of voluntary and company neutral EuroSpecs as a growing set of requirements for all kind of rolling stock and components used by Railway Undertakings as support for the procurement of railway rolling stock.
Once drafted each EuroSpec will be passed to UNIFE for their comment on the content and suggest adaptations.
The EuroSpec work programme will be shared with UNIFE who will be able to comment on it and propose other new work items.
UNIFE is an association of Europe’s rail supply companies based in Brussels active in the design, manufacture, maintenance and refurbishment of rail transport systems, subsystems and related equipment.
